What do you write?
What sort(s) of things do you like writing? Novels, short stories, poems or songs...?
- Spoiler:
- Stolen from the old site. I May eventually dig out the original discussion and repost it. Or I May Not. We'll see.
Re: What do you write?
Usually just poems or short clip-its of writing. I can't seem to get myself to write anything long anymore.

I write poetry sometimes too.

Re: What do you write?
@Maryjane, I know how that is. Long pieces are so hard to write sometimes. But even short pieces can be interesting. They're sometimes more interesting. I'm not sure why. All I know is I'm more often left breathless by short pieces than by long ones.
@Eppie, if unfinished novels don't count...they should. I mean, you've written them, right? You've put time into them. You've put effort into them. They're still something you've written, even if they're not finished.
I write mainly short stories. Most of my work is sci-fi or fantasy, but I've also started writing stories (loosely) based on things that've happened to me or people I know. Not sure what genre that is...true-life fiction or something?
I also sometimes write horrible poetry, but I have to beupset exhausted emotionally unbalanced in the right mood.

Idk if this really fits in this forum...
I was looking through my old SAT test, and I found an old essay.... . I seriously wanted to shout at my 13-year-old self WHAT WHERE YOU DOING THERE?? The essay was on a "hero", and when I read through my essay, I basically just described a superHERO as someone in tights, and a muscle suit.................. Like....seriously

Re: What do you write?
It fits well enough.
I know the feeling. I recently came across a story I wrote when I was probably twelve. It's 5,284 words long...and about chipmunks. CHIPMUNKS. Worse, I apparently hadn't heard of punctuation when I wrote it. (Seriously, Little Caitlin. HOW DID YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY PUT A SENTENCE IN QUOTATION MARKS???)
On the bright side, those now-embarrassing pieces show just how much we've grown as writers (and/or people) since we wrote them. If you can recognize the mistakes you used to make, chances are you won't make them anymore. That makes up for the embarrassment a little.

Re: What do you write?
I write short stories sometimes, and have been trying to finish a novel, but everytime I get 150-200 pages in, I get bored with the story, decide that I don't like the story idea anymore, or get lost in other story ideas and start writing them. Oh, how annoying.

Re: What do you write?
I was reading through some old stories that I wrote, and I got into the part where I went through my complete horror story/Edgar Allan Poe stage....still slightly in it. I wrote some pretty grotesque things...I wrote 5 sentences about a grape, and made it sounds like something that you'd read in a Stephen King book. A GRAPE! I wonder how I even managed that. I'd post it, but I think you guys might question my sanity

Haha, I know what you mean! Sometimes I re-read some of my old things and I wonder how I even came up with that/carried that story out. Anyway, I'd love to hear it!
